The National Kidney Foundation’s kidney walk is one of our favorite annual traditions here at Cincinnati Home Dialysis. While we won’t get to experience the excitement of thousands descending on Fountain Square this year, we’re lacing up our shoes to participate in the walk from our local parks and neighborhoods.

The 2021 Cincinnati Kidney Walk will take place on Sunday, May 16. This year, the local goal is to raise $132,500 for better kidney care and improvements to the lives of kidney patients.

There are lots of ways to get involved in this year’s event. Register on the Cincinnati Kidney Walk page to start fundraising. You’ll be able to personalize your fundraising page with your kidney story and why you’re participating. The event’s Walker Toolkit offers resources to drive donations, spread the word on social media, plan your walking route, and get the whole family involved in learning about kidney health. You’ll even get a virtual goodie bag.

We know that for many kidney patients, physical distancing or sheltering in place may require you to opt out of the walk portion of the event. There will be virtual events beginning at 10:00am on Sunday, May 16. You could pledge to climb the stairs in your home, do jumping jacks, or some other physical activity for every dollar you raise. One of the advantages of participating in the event from home is that you can customize it however you want!

From all of us at Cincinnati Home Dialysis, we hope you’ll join us in coming together to change the lives of kidney disease patients for the better. Every dollar we raise goes toward innovative kidney disease research, better treatment and transplants, and advocacy for patients.
